Purple Books Publishing staff and authors have an intense passion for our work and our books, and we want authors on our team who are committed to their own success as well as the success of Purple Books. To be considered for publication by Purple Books, we need the following:

• A 1-2 paragraph synopsis of your work
  
• Your bio or resume specifying credentials and publication credits, if any
  
• A complete table of contents and an estimated number of
  words and pages
  
• Two sample chapters but not the first chapter
  
• When will your finished work be available for us
  
• A description of the intended audience
  
• A brief statement on why you think your book is important
  
• A list of similar titles and how you think your book differs

Do NOT send a full manuscript unless a specific request is made from us. A proposal as described above must be sent to us first, via e-mail. If we want to receive the whole manuscript, we will request it.

Simultaneous submissions are OK.

We are interested in the following topic areas and will accept manuscripts only that address these issues:

• Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and ally memoir, biographies, fiction, commentary, young adult, history,
  and poetry
• Tasteful erotica
  
• Academic diversity work that is inclusive of LGBT issues

Once we request your manuscript, do the following:

1. Send a print copy of the manuscript. It must be clean, neat, double-spaced, simple type faces such as Times New Roman, good contrast (black ink on white paper), and 12 pt font with one inch margins all around. Manuscripts must be typed and have a computer file available in Microsoft Word, saved as
   a doc.
   
   
2. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope. You may receive no response without it. Be sure the included envelope accommodates your entire submission package or, if the manuscript can be recycled, include a #10 business envelope for our response. We will not return manuscripts at our expense.
   
   
3. It's okay to contact us to inquire about the status of your submission. Please remember to be professional and courteous or we may toss out your manuscript. Allow two months before following with a call, E-mail, or letter.
