About Purple Books and Ronni Sanlo

Purple Books/Distinctions was founded in 2010 by Dr. Ronni Sanlo, a well established published author, speaker, and academic. Her passion is to help people publish beautiful books. The philosophy of Purple Books/Distinctions is to actively engage authors as part of their own publishing team so that their excellent work is available to the public.

Ronni Sanlo, Ed.D. is retired from UCLA as a professor in the Masters of Education in Student Affairs. She was also the Senior Associate Dean of Students and served as the director of the UCLA Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Center. She earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Florida, and a masters and doctorate in education from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. Her consultation, research, and many publications focus on sexual orientation issues in education and higher education. Over the years, Ronni has sat on the national boards of several higher education associations and journal editorial boards, and was the founding chair of the Consortium of Higher Education Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Professionals. She is the originator of the award-winning Lavender Graduation, a commencement event that celebrates the lives and achievements of graduating LGBT college students. Ronni is a speaker, consultant, and strategic planner for organizations and educational institutions, served as a faculty member for the 2011 U. S. Dept. of Education LGBT Institute, and is an author of academic and popular press books. An activist for over 30 years, Ronni's memoir was published in 2010, the first by Purple Books Publishing.

Ronni is the proud mother of a gay son and an ally daughter and grandmother of two unusual but delightful teenage girls. Dr. Sanlo lives in Palm Springs, CA, where she rides around in her purple golf cart - the title of her memoir - and plays rotten but passionate golf
